Privacy Policy

Study Tracker ("Study Tracker," "we," "us," or "our") is an independent study aid for CompTIA certification exams. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Study Tracker, you agree to this Policy.

Who we are

Study Tracker is an independent, self-published web application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CompTIA, Inc. You can reach us about privacy at studytracker21@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider), and an optional display name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) from that provider.

Study data. To provide the service, we store the information you generate as you use it: your selected certification and exam dates, task and plan progress, practice and mock exam scores, weak-area ("gap") lists, completed objectives, game statistics (such as XP, accuracy, and high scores), any custom flashcards you create, and your app preferences (theme, sound, motion, and notification settings).

Device storage. We store your display preferences in your browser's local storage, and — if you install the app — cache application files on your device so it works offline. This information stays on your device.

Email reminders (optional). If you opt in to daily reminder emails, we record that preference and send reminders to your account email until you opt out or unsubscribe.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell your personal information.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To save and sync your study progress across your devices.
• To operate features you use (study plans, games, mock exams, readiness estimates).
• To send transactional messages (such as email confirmation) and, if you opt in, reminder emails.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the service.

How your information is shared

Your study data is private to your account. Other users cannot see it. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the app:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting (stores your account and study data).
• Lovable — application hosting and sign-in brokering.
• Google / Apple — only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Resend — email delivery, only if you enable reminder emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the service.

Cookies and local storage

We use only the storage necessary to run the app: a session token to keep you signed in, and local preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal data, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Your choices and rights

• Access and export. You can view your data in the app and export your study data to a file at any time from the Progress screen.
• Correction and deletion. You can edit your data in the app, and you can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing us.
• Reminder emails. You can turn reminder emails off in Settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any reminder email.
• Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. To exercise any of these, contact us.

Children's privacy

Study Tracker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and per-user access controls so that each account can only reach its own data. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

International users

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there. By using the service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected in the app.
